That's like saying a car is a car is a car until you compare the driving experience of a BMW 5 Series to a 1200cc city car (great for parking?).

Why have a business system in the first place?

Many salons still work with paper dockets and record their figures on to a programme such as Excel. It makes sense at the time however, after servicing clients all day, it is mentally draining and a waste of your personal time to sit for hours on paperwork.

There are a number of small book-keeping apps that can take the weight off the paperwork. But then accounting packages don't help you manage your appointment bookings. On-line bookings apps have become very popular making It more convenient for clients to book appointments in the your salon.

This is a fantastic development!

But then that doesn't give you in-depth information about your clients. Birthdays, loyalty, biggest spenders, buying history, ambassador clients that send you new clients, clients that stop coming - the list is endless. It is simply not humanly possible to track hundreds, if not thousands of clients without CRM. Therefore CRM (client relationship management) is the way go.

However, when it comes to controlling costs and marketing your business using all the tools at your disposal - client loyalty programme, stock and expense control, staff target setting, performance reviews and profit protection, you are looking at CRM on steroids, ERM (enterprise resource management). It simply does it all.
